2019-2020

Core Values and Outreach

We learned a lot about FIRST's FLL program, the core values, and how to participate in outreach activities as a rookie team last year. With our experience and advice from other teams, we've already started outreach activities and demonstrate our core values daily. This year we've already:

  • Held an information session at our library, which included displaying our project, robot, and core values poster boards.
  • Offered a FLL boot camp in May to recruit new team members:
    • Taught about core values challenges
    • Practiced research skills
    • Demoed the robot
    • Taught robot design and coding/programming
  • Offered a Pre-Season Workshop for new team members:
    • Taught about core values challenges
    • Practiced research skills
    • Demoed the robot
    • Taught robot design and coding/programming
  • Fundraised in our local community and explained what FIRST LEGO League is, such as team building, STEM focused, but more than just robots.
  • Registered for a scrimmage at ROBOTICON 2019 and volunteered on Day 2 to represent West Florida Robotics FLL.
  • Redesigned our website to better share our experience with FLL.
  • Created a Facebook page to share events, promote FIRST and FLL, and participate in coopertition opportunities with other teams.
  • Created an Instagram account to share team progress, promote FIRST and FLL, and connect with other teams.
